John Mahfood

CEO - Jamaican Teas Limited

John Mahfood lives by the inspiration of his late father Adeeb J. Mahfood, a man of “honesty, integrity and hard work”. This is a driving philosophy behind the Jamaican Teas Group, which has made a major impact in the marketplace since listing on the Junior Stock Exchange in 2011.

Among the Group’s list of companies are, Jamaican Teas Limited with its Tetley and Caribbean Dreams brands, H. Mahfood and Sons Limited, a real estate development arm, with real estate holdings in Kingston and St. Thomas, and Shoppers’ Delite Enterprise Limited, which operates a supermarket in Kingston.

Having served in several corporate entities, Mr. Mahfood is experienced in local and international retail and trade, as well as mergers, expansions and turnarounds. He brings his expertise to bear on his own corporation, where he undertakes developing and implementing guidelines, internal controls and human resource procedures. He is as much at ease in the boardroom, as he is on the factory floor and credits much of the success of the Group, to his dedicated team of employees.

Jamaican Teas Limited was named Champion Exporter and Champion Manufacturer Category II for 2013 by the Jamaica Exporters’ Association and the Group also received the Enablement Award for 2013 by the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association. In 2014, John Mahfood received several awards including being recognized as a Jamaica Observer Business Leader nominee.

In 2017, Jamaican Teas was the recipient of two major awards, the Champion Manufacturer Award (Runner-up, Category two) and the Pauline Gray Award at the annual Jamaica Exporters’ Association Awards and Banquet. The awards recognised Jamaican Teas’ consistency in product innovation and improvement in Jamaican exports.

Mr. Mahfood is a Certified Public Accountant and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
